Our Coaches
Sherri Hausner, Club Director and Coach
Sherri is the co-founder and Club Director. Sherri has a Bachelor’s degree
in Computer Management Science from Clarke College. She also has a
Master’s degree in Business Administration from Iowa State University.
Sherri is an experienced coach, former college athlete and certified
personal trainer. She has over 16 years of competitive volleyball
experience including college and adulthood play. Sherri has
several years experience playing, coaching, officiating and organizing
clinics and camps for youth and adults. Sherri is USA Volleyball IMPACT
certified.
She is married and has three lovely children. All of which are future
volleyball players!
Miranda Sun, Coach
Miranda is an experienced coach and volleyball player. She was a
Student & Graduate Assistant Volleyball Coach for Southeastern
Oklahoma State University. She has taught in public schools for
12 years with a Masters degree in Education Administration. She
brings knowledge of every aspect of the sport, she has coached,
officiated, organized camps and leagues for all age groups. Miranda
has experienced competition play at different levels for over 20 years.

Krystal Grundmeier, Coach
Krystal was middle hitter for Waldorf College in Forest City, IA. She
has experience playing and coaching club volleyball in the midwest.
Krystal has a Bachelor’s degree in Education and is pursing her
Master’s in School Counseling at Texas A&M Commerce.

Anna Vines, Coach
Anna has 8 years of competitive playing experience. She was All-District
in High School volleyball and a regional qualifier for High School Track
for all 4 years. Anna was a setter at Collin County Community College
where they made it to the NJCAA Division I National Championship
tournament. She coached Volleyball with the People to People Sports
Ambassadors World Games in Vienna Austria during the summer
of 2007. She also has 3 years experience coaching volleyball camps.
Amanda Virginia, Coach
Amanda has experience coaching club volleyball and school camps. Amanda began playing volleyball at age twelve for Division 5A schools and club organizations. She has strong knowledge of the game having played both hitter and setter positions for competitive clubs. Amanda graduated with an Associates of Science from CCCCD and will graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in May 2008 from TWU.

Genevieve Messier, XP2 Coach
Genevieve comes to Excel Volleyball Club with 10 years of Coaching
experience and more than 20 years of experience as a player, including
4 years of Collegiate Level. Genevieve has recently lead 2 teams to the
JOVC (2005 and 2006), her team finishing 18th in the Nation in 2006.
“I’m very excited to commit to the New Excel Performance Program, XP2.
This program is unique in the region and will bring fresh ideas to club
volleyball. My mission is to build powerful and savvy Volleyball players as
well as outstanding young citizens.”
Genevieve is IMPACT, CAP I and CAP II certified. She is now starting the
CAP III certification and is committed to continuous education.
Genevieve is a Human Resource Manager for a Power Manufacturing
Company. She is married and has 2 wonderful children.
Mario Barbaresso, XP2 Director and Coach
Mario comes to Excel with 5 years of coaching experience and more than
30 years of experience as a player, including 6 years of National Senior AA
level under the direction of an Olympic Division coach and 4 years of
competitive beach volleyball league.
Recipient many MVP and athlete of the year awards, Mario has invested
many years of his life to volleyball. During his prime years, he reached 44
inches in vertical jump and was averaging 88% efficiency on offense.
“There are no other sports than Volleyball where individual performance is
not as crucial as each player’s contribution to a common goal. My mission is
to develop each and every volleyball player into the best athlete and person
they can be while understanding fundamental concepts like obligation of
result, sense of purpose, decision making and team commitment. I am very
excited to join the Excel team as a coach and leader of our new Excel
Performance Program, XP2.
Mario has a Bachelor Degree in Applied Science and is USA Volleyball
IMPACT and CAP I certified. He is now starting the CAP II certification and
is an active member of the USA Volleyball High Performance Program.
Mario is CEO of a Power Manufacturing Corporation. He is married to a
volleyball coach and has 2 wonderful daughters also playing competitive
volleyball.

Trish Barenberg, Coaching Director
Trish is the co-founder and Coaching Director. Trish has a Bachelor’s Degree from Kansas State.
Trish is an experienced coach and volleyball player. Trish is USA Volleyball IMPACT certified. She has several years of experience coaching youth volleyball and basketball. She is an accomplished athlete. Trish was an All-League volleyball player and was voted an All-State basketball player for three years in high school. She was offered multiple college scholarships for volleyball, basketball and softball.

Chris Finseth, XP2 Coach
Chris comes to Excel from Hawaii with over 26 years of playing experience and 10 years of coaching experience. He spent his younger years playing for Outrigger Canoe Club, Mid Pacific Institute, University of Oregon, and several USAV teams. He has had the privilege to have been coached by Mike Wilton & Dave Shoji (University of Hawaii Men’s & Women’s Coaches), (Kathy Nelson former University of Oregon Women’s Coach), Al Scates (UCLA Men’s Coach), and Jon Stanley ( 1976 US Olympian Volleyball and father to Clayton Stanley).
Chris’s philosophy is to build all around players that are both mentally and physically strong in the game of volleyball. “ I believe that heart and passion is the core of what makes a great player, and I believe that Excel has what it takes to develop that core in its players to make them much more than they imagine themselves to be.”

Coach MeGuire
Jennifer Hindman, Coach
Jennifer has experience playing and coaching volleyball. She played club volleyball for five years throughout high school. Jennifer played middle blocker and hitter for Collin County Community College and Stephen F. Austin State University. She is currently a Science teacher and seventh grade volleyball and basketball coach at Robinson Middle School.
Heather MeGuire, Coach
Heather MeGuire is a graduate of the University of North Texas. While there, she received her degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Health. Heather has lived in Plano all her life and graduated from Plano Senior High School where she played 2 years on the Varsity volleyball team. She then went on to play her freshmen and sophomore year at Collin County Community College and went to the NJCAA Division 1 National Championship. The love of the game has carried her into her career as a teacher and coach in Plano ISD. This is her 5th year coaching 8th grade and competitive club volleyball. Heather is Impact certified and coaches numerous camps during the summer.
James Willis, Assistant Coach
I was the student assistant coach at Collin County for two years, 2001 and 2002. I graduated Collin County in 2002. I have played volleyball for 12 years and played in a competitive league for the past 3 years. I am also a professional tennis coach. I played tennis at Collin County and that is where I first started coaching volleyball. I have loved volleyball ever since and that is what made me want to be a coach. I am very excited to have this opportunity and can’t wait for the season to start!

Paul Lac, Assistant Coach
I have 3 years of coaching experience and a coaching assistance for the UTD Girls Team. I played organized volleyball beginning in middle school back in Virginia Beach, VA. I went on to play club volleyball and high school volleyball as a setter. After high school, I continued to play in college club teams and currently in a USAV club team that plays locally in DFW area.
