On Saturday, April 17, the Excel 14U Elite International team visited the University of Nevada at Reno to meet the Wolf Pack volleyball team. When we first arrived, we headed towards the campus gym to watch them play two amazing games against other college teams from around the country. The entire team was extremely impressed at the skill and passion this team had on the court.

Once both games ended, we headed downstairs to have lunch with the team which gave us a great opportunity to ask questions about college life and their overall development in volleyball skills. We all learned that it took a lot of commitment, dedication, and strength to continue playing volleyball throughout college, and we learned about the amount of hard work we would have to put into this sport in order to be successful in any college volleyball team.

We then took a tour of the lower part of campus with the coach of this astounding volleyball team, Devin Scruggs, and learned about where most of our classes would be held if we were to go to this university. The campus was a sight to see as our whole team was taken aback by the overall beauty of the campus including the stunning lake and the immense buildings. After that, we made our way to the upper part of campus with the volleyball team where we toured the brand-new student union building which included a huge Starbucks and many other stores and cool hang-out places for the students. We then went back to the gym to tour their locker room which had lockers twice the size of the lockers we have at school. The locker room also consisted of a viewing room where they would watch over their games from previous nights to improve their volleyball skills.

This visit brought to our team a better idea of what to look forward to when we graduate high school and make our way to college. We each had a better idea as to whether or not playing volleyball in college was on our to-do lists or if we were willing to work extremely hard as the girls on the Wolf Pack team did. Meeting this extraordinary team also inspired each one of us to focus on continuing to play this sport throughout our entire lives. We want to thank Excel Volleyball Club  and the Wolf Pack volleyball team, including their coach, Devin Scruggs, for organizing this inspiring visit.
