Jim Stewart, Head Coach Coaching Philosophy: “My philosophy is simple … Play hard, but win or lose, have FUN!”Jim has been playing volleyball for over 20 years, beginning his career playing sand and grass tournaments and indoor for USVBA. While at Texas A&M, he was a setter, Captain and Vice President of the Texas A&M Volleyball Club. Jim is beginning his eleventh year as a club volleyball coach, and his third year with EXCEL. Last year he was co-coach of the Excel 13 Elite team that qualified for Nationals in Columbus, OH. Prior to Excel, he was the assistant coach for the Mad Frog 13s National and 14s National teams and Head Coach of the 15 Local team. Those two years with Mad Frog, Jim’s leadership has played a key role in his teams qualifying for Nationals in 2009 and 2010, with the 13s National team winning Gold and achieving a #1 ranking in the US in 2009. Prior to Mad Frog, he also was responsible for two other teams reaching Nationals in 2007 and 2008. In addition to coaching club, Jim also coaches middle school volleyball at St. Mark Catholic School in Plano, where he recently won back to back to back DPL Championships. Jim is IMPACT & Cap Level I certified and completed the Gold Medal Squared clinic lead by USA Olympic National Team Assistant Coach Carl McGown, PHD. Jim is married to his lovely soul mate, Sandra and has three children, two beautiful volleyball playing daughters and an eager baseball playing son. Jim’s daytime job is CIO of Harbor Wealth Management. |
