John Yang, Head Coach Coach Yang has been coaching competitive volleyball since 1997. He is IMPACT certified and plans to pursue his CAP Level I Certificate in the future. He began his coaching career as a Graduate Assistant for his high school varsity team when he was a senior in high school. He then became assistant and then head coach after he graduated from high school. During those three years, his team not only qualified TAPPS State Final four for the first time in the school history, but also qualified in back to back seasons. He also spent 2 seasons as assistant Junior Varsity coach at Pantego Christian Academy with Coach Drew Noah. This is Coach Yang's third year coaching for EXCEL. Coach Yang led the EXCEL 17 Elite National team to qualify for USAV Nationals at the Mideast National Qualifier in Indianapolis, IN. The prior year, he led the EXCEL 15 Elite National team to qualify for the National Championship at Reno, NV. Coach Yang spent 7 seasons with Texas Image as both assistant and head coach for 15s and 16s.
John started his playing career when he was in junior high and plays through college. He played on the first and the only NCAA sanctioned Men’s Volleyball program in Texas at Dallas Baptist University, which won 2nd Place at NCCAA National Men’s Volleyball Championship in 2002. John is currently working as Staff Accountant for Fiserv, Inc. He has Accounting degree from Dallas Baptist University and is pursuing his CPA. John is married and resides in Grand Prairie with his wife and their 4 year old boy. "The will to win is meaningless without the well to work hard" |
