Iris Miranda, Head Coach 

Iris Miranda is USAV CAP1, CAP 2 and IMPACT certified and has over 17 years of volleyball experience both as a player and as a coach.  Coach Iris joined EXCEL in 2014.  

In 2018, Coach Iris's 12’s finished top 5 at both Lonestar and Big South National Qualifiers in the National division. As well,  they finished top 5 in NTR ranking tournaments.

Her 12s won the coveted gold ball Northern Lightsf National Qualifier in Minneapolis,  not dropping a single set! This Championship win earned them the gold ticket to nationals in Detroit in June. Currently,  her 12s are ranked 6th in NTR’s competitive ranking.

It’s been an amazing year for Coach Iris and her 12s and she’s very proud of her young team!!

 In 2017, Coach Iris finished 6th in both Big South and Northern lights qualifiers playing in highest division for her young 12u team. Her 12u team fought at regionals and finished 5th, missing the bid by 1 spot. 

In 2016, Coach Iris led her team to win Regionals and qualify for USAV Nationals, finishing 9th in the National division.  In 2015, her 11U team earn the sought after gold ball finishing first at Lone Star.  The team went on to also win Regionals and finished in the top 8th at the USAV National Championships. 

Iris’ volleyball career started in her home town of El Paso where she earned distinction as one of the top Outside Hitters in the city.  She also played club volleyball at the University of Texas – Dallas in the Southern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association.  Iris continues to play at a high level, currently playing in local adult leagues and tournaments.

Iris was also an accomplished soccer player, having played collegiately at Richland College.  Iris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Learning and Development, which she believes has helped her develop stronger athletes, both physically and mentally.
