Jennifer (JJ) Castillo, Head Coach

JJ Castillo will be entering her 8th year of coaching volleyball. Castillo grew up in Allen, TX and played volleyball at Allen High School.  She started as a freshman on varsity and set/hit all four years.  During her time at Allen, they won four consecutive district titles along with a run to state in 2003.  After graduating from Allen High School, she went on to play collegiate volleyball at Stephen F. Austin State University.  Castillo started all four years along with being a part of four consecutive Southland Conference Championships.  In 2006, Castillo led her team to the NCAA tournament and advanced past the first round defeating Alabama.  Along with a successful college career, she managed to pick up few accolades along the way.  She earned newcomer of the year, two setter of the years, and four Southland Conference 1st team all-conference.  In addition, she holds the assists record at SFA with 5,191 career assists.  Following graduation, she accepted the position at Lamar University as the first assistant.  After two years at Lamar, Castillo had the opportunity to be the assistant at university of Tulsa.  During her time there, Tulsa was a top 25 program in the nation and advanced past the first round of the NCAA tournament defeating Oklahoma.  Following Tulsa, Coach Castillo moved back to the Dallas area and started coaching at her Alma Mater, Allen High School, and was the first assistant there along with teaching English.  Soon after, Castillo decided to go to Prosper High school and coach under Erin Kauffman.  First year at Prosper, the team advanced to the state tournament receiving 2nd place.  Following that first year, Castillo has been a part of Prosper volleyball's three consecutive district championships along with solid playoff runs.  Castillo was the first assistant at Prosper for 4 years.  Now Castillo will be entering the 2017 season as McKinney Boyd's new head volleyball coach.  JJ Castillo resides in McKinney, TX with husband Greg, who is an art teacher at McKinney HS, and their baby girl Skylar Abigail.
