Sophia Hagstrom is a high academic, 6 rotation OH and DS. She brings talent, hustle and team unity to every play of every set. She has the heart of a champion, significant situational awareness and the ability to play any position needed. Eight years of volleyball experience overall with 5 years of club/national level play.

"Sophia Hagstrom is a dynamic, hard-working, six-rotation player with solid vertical. She can hit any area of the opponent's court with a wide variety of speeds/shots. The greatest thing about her is her coachability and how she is willing to do and play whatever position benefits the team most." - HS Coach Eric Miracle

Her volleyball career began in 4th grade with the Spring Valley Athletic Association leagues in Texas and with Club Volleyball on the top teams at Summit Volleyball beginning with 7th grade (2014). As the tallest player on her teams, she was coached as a middle blocker. She played for the same Summit coach (Steve Carrera) for 3 years, and transitioned as a 16 year old to the outside position. In 2018, Sophia moved to Excel Volleyball Club where she continues her role as OH.

As a Freshman at Richardson High School in 2016-2017, she made the JV team and played middle. She was called up for Varsity during the District Championships at the end of the season. As a Sophomore, Sophia made the Varsity team at RHS and transitioned to Outside Hitter where she became an All-District and All-City player as they became Bi-District Champions.

Outside of volleyball, Sophia invests significant effort into her community. As a Girl Scout, she completed her Bronze Award crafting handmade blankets for the Linus Project and built a sustainable garden at the local elementary school for her Silver Award. Earning the highest level of achievement with the Gold Award, she developed nutritional sheets for the North Texas Food Bank to encourage children to eat healthier and about the importance of exercising. She gave presentations at her high school and other groups in the community each month for one year to introduce her program.

With church, she regularly participates in Helping Hands, Boxes of Blessing, and more.

She has regular babysitting and dog sitting assignments throughout the year.

Each weekday, Sophia puts on her scrubs and heads to the hospital for two hours of immersive training as part of her "clinicals" within the health magnet program.
